Classic Engravings 

A brief history

It was April 1946, my Grandparents Norman (known as Jakey) and Iris Farebrother, bought the prestigious corner property on Marine Road  overlooking Morecambe Bay with its’ stunning sunsets and Lakeland Hills.  Their dream had come true, and they went on to build a successful Giftware and Souvenir Shop in this prime location of the time, selling gold, silver and costume jewellery, Beswick Pottery, Limoge China, Pendelfin Figures and general seaside souvenirs of that era. 

Above the shop, they were able to create a warm, inviting and loving family home which was to serve generations of their beloved family, for the next 72 years.  As time went by, after completing his National Service with the RAF in Egypt, their son Gordon and his wife Eileen worked in unison alongside them and the business prospered during the booming seaside holiday trade of post-war 1950’s and 60’s.  Gordon had a keen interest in photography and expanded the business further by selling cameras and films, also developing and printing photographs.

In 1972  I joined the business, we had already started engraving jewellery and gifts. Therefore, it was a natural progression, when asked by a local league to supply and engrave trophies.  We have not looked back and this side of the business has continued to flourish.  Our many years of experience and knowledge ensures a service of excellent quality and precision.  Classic Engravings continues to supply clubs, leagues, school, colleges, universities, businesses, corporate companies and individuals with trophies, awards and engravings.
